Loctite 542 Thread Sealant(bottle)

Loctite 542 is a medium-strength, low-viscosity, brown anaerobic thread sealant designed for the locking and sealing of metal pipes and fittings. Loctite 542 pipe thread sealant cures when confined in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces, preventing loosening and leakage caused by shock and vibration in pressurised pipe systems.

This single-component dimethacrylate ester features a thixotropic-influenced formula that reduces liquid product migration after application to the substrate. With low viscosity for excellent thread penetration, Loctite 542 is well suited to general pipe and fitting sealing tasks across industrial maintenance and assembly.

How to Use Loctite 542

1. Clean all surfaces with Loctite cleaning solvent and allow to dry.
2. For inactive metals or slow cure, spray threads with appropriate activator and allow to dry.
3. Apply a 360° bead to the leading threads of the male fitting, leaving the first thread free; force material into threads to fill voids.
4. For bigger threads and voids, also apply to female threads.
5. Assemble and wrench-tighten per manufacturer recommendations.
6. Allow minimum 24 hours cure for maximum pressure and solvent resistance.
7. For potable water applications, remove excess uncured product with lint-free cloth and Loctite SF 7063.
