Loctite 246 is a medium-strength, blue anaerobic threadlocking adhesive engineered for heavy-duty applications requiring both vibration resistance and elevated temperature performance. Unlike standard medium-strength threadlockers, Loctite 246 blue thread locker maintains its locking performance after prolonged exposure to temperatures up to 200°C (and partially to 260°C), making it ideal for transmissions, construction equipment, and railroad assemblies.

This single-component dimethacrylate ester requires no mixing and cures in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces. Loctite 246 is particularly suitable for heavy-duty assemblies where resistance to heavy shock, vibration, and elevated temperatures is required simultaneously.

How to Use Loctite 246

1. Clean all surfaces (external and internal) with Loctite cleaning solvent and allow to dry.
2. For inactive metals or slow cure, spray with Activator 7471™ or 7649™.
3. Shake product thoroughly before use.
4. For thru holes: apply several drops onto the bolt at the nut engagement area.
5. For blind holes: apply drops down the internal threads to the bottom of the hole.
6. Assemble and tighten as required.
7. For disassembly: standard hand tools in most cases; for extreme lengths, heat to ~250°C.
