LOCTITE 2701 Threadlocker is a high-strength, low-viscosity green anaerobic threadlocking adhesive engineered for the permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners. Unlike general-purpose threadlockers, Loctite 2701 high strength thread lock is specifically formulated for use on inactive substrates and applications demanding maximum resistance to hot oil — making it a favourite among automotive and heavy machinery technicians.

This single-component dimethacrylate ester cures anaerobically between close-fitting metal surfaces with no mixing required. Its low viscosity (500–900 mPa·s) allows excellent penetration into fine threads, while its high-strength bond resists loosening from shock, vibration, and continuous hot oil exposure.

How to Use Loctite 2701

1. Clean all surfaces with Loctite cleaning solvent and allow to dry.
2. For inactive metals or slow cure, spray threads with primer and allow to dry.
3. For thru holes: apply drops onto the bolt at the nut engagement area.
4. For blind holes: apply drops down the internal threads to the bottom of the hole.
5. Assemble and tighten as required.
6. For disassembly: apply localised heat to ~250°C and disassemble while hot.
