LOCTITE® 638™ retaining compound is a high-strength retaining adhesive formulated to secure cylindrical metal components in assemblies that require a durable, reliable fit. Its green, high-viscosity liquid flows into the space between mating surfaces and cures when confined away from air. The resulting bond helps prevent component movement, loosening and leakage caused by vibration or mechanical stress.This compound is suitable for fitting bushings and sleeves into housings or onto shafts, including applications where the gap between components reaches 0.25 mm. It bonds to reactive metals such as mild steel and also works with compatible stainless steel and plated surfaces.
