LOCTITE® 243 Loctite 243 is a medium-strength, blue anaerobic threadlocking adhesive designed for the locking and sealing of threaded fasteners that require normal disassembly with standard hand tools. Particularly suited for locking threaded fasteners in pumps, gearboxes, motors, and vehicles, Loctite 243 blue thread locker has become an industry-standard upgrade over older medium-strength formulas thanks to its superior oil tolerance.

This thixotropic dimethacrylate ester cures anaerobically between close-fitting metal surfaces, preventing loosening and leakage from shock and vibration. Loctite 243 works on active metals (brass, copper) and passive substrates (stainless steel, plated surfaces) alike, and tolerates minor surface contamination from cutting, lubrication, anti-corrosion, and protection fluids.

How to Use Loctite 243

1. Clean all surfaces with Loctite cleaning solvent and allow to dry.
2. If cure speed is too slow, use the appropriate activator per the cure speed vs activator data.
3. Shake the product thoroughly before use.
4. For thru holes: apply drops onto the bolt at the nut engagement area.
5. For blind holes: apply drops to the lower third of internal threads or the bottom of the hole.
6. For sealing applications: apply a 360° bead to leading threads, leaving the first thread free.
7. Assemble and tighten as required.
8. For disassembly: standard hand tools; in rare cases, heat to ~250°C.
