LOCTITE® 518™ flange sealant is a medium-strength, anaerobic flange sealant used to create a reliable seal between closely fitted rigid metal surfaces. Supplied as a red, gel-like material, it remains in place after application and cures when trapped between metal flanges with limited air exposure. The cured seal helps prevent fluid leakage while accommodating small gaps between mating surfaces.This one-component formulation is suitable for sealing joints in equipment such as engine casings and gearboxes. It works on metals including mild steel and aluminium with low copper content, and can tolerate minor residues from certain cutting oils, lubricants and corrosion-protection fluids.
