Soudal Foam FR(can)

Soudal Foam FR (Soudafoam FR HY) is a one-component, self-expanding, ready-to-use polyurethane foam engineered with fire-retardant characteristics in accordance with European standard EN 1366-4, achieving up to 240 minutes of fire resistance in a joint depending on configuration. This high-yield fire foam contains HCFC- and CFC-free propellants that are not harmful to the ozone layer.

Key Features

Soudal Foam FR delivers high filling capacity, good adhesion on all surfaces except PE, PP, and PTFE, and high thermal and acoustic insulation value. It's part of Soudal's dedicated Fire Range assortment for penetration seals and fire-rated joints, with very good bonding properties and water resistance (though it is not fully watertight). Note that this foam is not UV-resistant and requires a protective top coat if exposed to sunlight.

Performance Data

Soudal Foam FR forms a skin in approximately 40 minutes with a cutting time around 9.5 minutes, and achieves tensile strength of approximately 134 kPa with elongation at maximum force of approximately 14.2%. Shear strength measures approximately 59 kPa and compressive strength approximately 70 kPa, with both shrinkage and expansion after curing kept below 1%. Each 750ml can yields approximately 34 liters of foam or 18 meters of joint fill. Sound insulation reaches 60dB, with thermal conductivity of 0.033 W/m·K, and the cured foam resists temperatures from -40°C to +90°C. The product is classified per EN 13501-2 fire reaction standards and carries EMICODE EC1 Plus low-emission certification.

Applications

Soudal Foam FR is used for the installation of fireproof doors and windows, sealing fire-retardant joints in walls and ceilings, sealing openings in roof constructions, applying acoustic baffles, and all foam applications in static joints requiring fire compliance.

Directions for Use

Shake the aerosol can for at least 20 seconds before use, fit the adapter onto the valve, and moisten surfaces with a water sprayer prior to application. Fill cavities only about one-third full, as the foam expands significantly. Repeat shaking regularly during application, and re-moisten between layers when working in multiple passes. Fresh foam can be removed with Soudal Gun & Foam Cleaner or acetone; cured foam requires mechanical removal or Soudal PU Remover. Recommended can, ambient, and surface temperatures all fall between +5°C and +30–35°C.
